This week were my mom and brother's birthdays.
Although this post was originally about celebrating them,
this week also came the answer to a family prayer
in the passing of my grandma Carole.

My grandma had been suffering from ALS for the past two years
and decided she was ready to go to Heaven.

It's hard not to be selfish when you know how much
you're going to miss someone when they're gone.
It's hard to let go and pray for someone to leave you.

But then I remembered it wasn't about me, but her.
Her life. Her walk. Her journey.

My grandmother travelled the world,
lovingly raised two amazing children,
was a dedicated servant of God through our church and Emmaus,
and was the best Mamaw I could have ever asked for.

Although it seems like a dark cloud
near my mom and brother's birthday,
it brings joy that my grandma's prayers
were answered and she could be at peace.

Please pray for my family as we grieve
the loss of such a wonderful and courageous woman
who will be very missed by all of us.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31

Kim,
Your grandmother meant so much to me. She continues to be a huge influence in my life, and I am so glad that she now at rest. You get to miss her. That isn't selfish at all. My thoughts are with you and your family this week.
