couchtime.

I'm feeling pretty under the weather today.
Luckily, I can work from home if I need to.

Jax mistakenly thinks
work from home = playtime on the couch

hahaha. sorry buddy.

How to make awesome awesomer.

Many of you have seen the crazy/wonderful/fantasticness
that is my job at Threadless.

I'm happier than I've been in ages.

Not only is it fun, but I really believe in what we're doing there.

Take for example, our current project:

If you want to get in on the action, go here
I'm buying the wormy one today!

I've got a ton of Threadless pics as well that are in need of sharing.

Weekend Update

J-dog and I headed down to Posey County last weekend...
here's the recap!

Boss man likes to snooze in the front seat....
and hold hands. ha.

Pizza as big as the table.
Why can I not find this in Chicago?

First run after the marathon.

ALS Walk with the fam.

I came home to this awesome gift from Julia!

Anthony wearing Jax's bone as a bowtie.
Sadly, Jax did not see the humor in this....
maybe it was the poison ivy wounds growing on his belly.
Poor city pup.

Yay for another great weekend!

Pollo Loco

Hands down, best chicken recipe of my life.
It has everything you want on a cold rainy day.

Pasta? Check
Slow cooked veggies? Check
Fall off the bone chicken thighs?  Check
Homemade spicy tomato sauce? Check
Easy? Double Check

I added more red pepper and wine to mine.

When in doubt, add more spice and wine to everything.
New life moto.

Post Marathon Blues

 I miss training.
Just sayin.
Running is more of a choice now instead of something I must do,
which feels awesome when I get out there and run....
but I'm not good with choices.

Hands down, I'll always choose sleep, beers, foods over running.
Anyone want to sign up for a race with me? Yay!

Also, big thanks to my mom for indulging in my crazy
and taking this picture of me last weekend.

I had always wanted a picture of me running like this one
and there are so many beautiful places to run in Posey County.

I may have asked for 5 (or 10) location changes.
hhahahahah.

At least I didn't change outfits. :-)

In case you were wondering.....

No matter how elated you are about having Turoni's beer at home,
do not dance a jig while holding a growler.

Don't do it.
It will just end in sadness.

Yes, it is possible to get too excited about beer.

Just a little story about a girl who decided to run a marathon - Part 1

I never planned on running a marathon.
It wasn't anywhere near any "bucket list" of mine.
(nor did I think I could run 26.2 miles without dying)
however.....

Rewind back to February.

Husband: We should do the marathon this year.

Easily-convinced-to-do-crazy-things-Wife: Marathon? Really?

Husband: Yeah, let's do it.

In my defense, it also looked like this outside and I was stir crazy.

And so...I said yes.

Here I am 8 months later.
How on Earth did I do it, you might ask?

I started with Hal Hidgon's book and Novice 1 training guide
I got advice from anyone who would talk to me about running.
I ran over 300 miles (but at most only 4 days a week!).
I did Bikram Yoga to stretch out sore legs.
I downloaded new podcasts each week.
I ingested at least 50 packets of GU Energy.
I drank a lot of 5 hour energy.

I iced.
I cried.
I limped.
I got hives*.
I complained.
I cried some more.

I lost weight.
I slept better.
I felt much happier.
I looked forward to running.
I got in the best shape of my life.

I ran in memory of my grandma Carole.

I raised over $800 for the ALS Assoication.

And then suddenly, it was the night before the race.

Race Day post coming soon!

*Do not buy off-brand 5 Hour Energy at Aldi.

Tag Along

Nope, not the Girl Scout cookie.
Although a box of GS cookies would be awesome right now.

I'm speaking strategy.
Marathon strategy.

I'm going to tuck one of these bad boys in my pocket.
I've trained my booty off, but you never know.
I might need someone to pull my butt across the finish line.

Two more wake-ups.
I can do this!

Sunday afternoon can't come soon enough.

Oh yeah, already planned my victory dance.

For those of you unfamiliar with Upland Brewery
you're seriously missing out.
It's sadly one of the few beers I can't get in the city.
Huge thanks to Liam for scooping these up!

Chillllllls

This video made the marathon so much more real.
As my nephew TJ would say
"Only 6 more wake ups until the race!"

Making Waves

This happened yesterday in Chicago.
It is exactly where I run each Saturday.

Guess who thought the waves wouldn't be so bad today?
Yup that's right.

Me and another unsuspecting girl
got SMASHED by a wave and drenched.

I did make a running buddy for 5 miles though
and we laughed about how cold and wet we were.
hahahaha.
